Train PKK Cadres in Mimika, Head of TP PKK Hopes to Grow Entrepreneurial Spirit

The Central Family Empowerment and Welfare Team (TP PKK) held training on how to care for children and the elderly (elderly), as well as making processed bread for PKK cadres in Timika, Papua, Tuesday (23/11/2021).

The activity, which was attended by 60 cadres from various districts in Mimika Regency, was one of the efforts to improve the abilities and skills of the cadres.

The training was opened directly by the General Chairperson of the TP PKK Tri Tito Karnavian who was on a working visit in Timika. “We provide training for the care of children and the elderly because the demand for caring for infants and the elderly is enormous in Indonesia,” Tri said in a written statement received by, Thursday (11/25/2021).

Tri explained, currently not a few housewives who need energy assistance to care for babies. Not only that, in the midst of the times, there are also families who need skilled workers to care for the elderly.

Therefore, Tri said, by participating in the training, women in Papua are expected to not only be able to work in their area, but also have the opportunity to work outside the region.

In addition to teaching how to care for babies and the elderly, TP PKK also provides participants with bread making skills, such as sweet bread, white bread, and donuts. This provision is given so that the cadres can have the skills and expertise for entrepreneurship. “Because, in our environment there are offices and schools.

Maybe (the mothers) can make bread and then leave it at the kiosk or something. In this way, an entrepreneurial spirit can emerge. That’s our goal,” he said. Through the training, Tri hopes that the participants will be able to work as nurses or have a home-based business.

That way, they can help the family’s economy to be better and more independent. For information, the training will take place on November 23-24 2021 at a hotel in Timika.

Also present at the opening ceremony were the Chairman of the TP PKK Papua Province, Yulce Enembe, the Chairperson of the TP PKK Mimika Regency Kalina Omaleng, Expert Staff of the Central TP PKK, as well as the administrators of the TP PKK Papua Province and Mimika Regency.

After opening the training, Tri, who is also a member of the board of the Solidarity Action Organization for the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet (OASE), continued his working visit to the Kemala Somatua Reading Park, the Children’s Reading Park in the Kwamki Narama District, the Kwamki Baru churchyard, and the East Mimika District Office.

On that occasion, Tri provided assistance with 600 packages of basic necessities and healthy food from the OASE of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, reading books, and a complete coloring book package with colored pencils.

It is important to note that all training activities and the provision of assistance are carried out according to the established health protocol. Before the event starts, participants must take an antigen swab test first.
