PAPUADAILY –Many members of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in the Mimika area have returned to the community. The movement of the KKB in this area has decreased.
According to the Mimika Resort Police Chief (Kapolres), Papua AKBP IGG Era Adhinata, due to security factors, his party cannot reveal further regarding this matter.
They are said to be ready to build a more promising life and future. “That’s a lot, but we can’t say it openly, because it relates to the safety of themselves and their families,” said AKBP IGG Era Adhinata, in Timika, Thursday (1/7/2021).
Era said that efforts to embrace and invite residents who had joined the KKB Papua to return to the fold of the Republic of Indonesia are the duties and responsibilities of all components of the nation, not only TNI and Polri officers, but also local governments.
In the past year, the movement of Papuan KKB in the Mimika area, especially in Tembagapura District and its surroundings has decreased. A number of KKB factions that previously joined and visited the Tembagapura District in February 2020, led by Lekagak Telenggeng, have returned to their respective areas of origin.
The groups are said to have come from the Ilaga, Intan Jaya, Puncak Jaya and Nduga areas. “Last year around February there were many KKB groups who came to disturb Tembagapura, but the authorities managed to prevent them, so they returned to their respective regions. It has been almost a year that there have been no more security disturbances in Mimika, especially in Tembagapura, ” said AKBP Era Adhinata.
Even so, he said, early detection of KKB movements that want to disrupt security in the Mimika area, especially Tembagapura, which is the mining area of PT Freeport Indonesia, must continue.
The Mimika Police Chief asked for support from various components of the local community to help provide information if he knew of a KKB movement that wanted to disrupt the security situation in the Mimika area.
Meanwhile, the Commander of the 20th Infantry Brigade Ima Jaya Keramo/3 Kostrad Lt. Col. Inf. Arynovian Sampurno admitted that the security situation in the Mimika area has recently become more conducive, so that local residents can move smoothly without fear and worry about threats by the KKB.
“We hope that the Mimika area will always be in a safe and conducive condition. If the situation in the area is safe, then of course the community can develop, become more advanced and prosperous,” said Lt. Col. Arynovian.
However, the situation is still felt by the people who live in a number of regencies in the mountainous region of Papua, such as Puncak, Intan Jaya, Nduga, Yahukimo and others who are often hit by conflict.
