PAPUADAILY –Papua Governor Lukas Enembe revealed that the community was ready to anticipate his plan to carry out a month-long lockdown. He will close access in and out of Papua.
Spokesman for the Governor of Papua, Muhammad Rifai Darus, said that the Papua Provincial Government plans to close access to and from entry and exit via flights and waterways. Closing begins in August.
“The closure is expected to take place on August 1-August 31, 2021,” Rifai said in Jayapura, Tuesday (20/7/2021).
According to Rifai, this policy will be discussed further in the evaluation meeting of the Papua Province COVID-19 Task Force Team on Wednesday (21/7) tomorrow. Lukas Enembe and his staff will report to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
On Monday, July 19, 2021, Lukas Enembe and other regional heads from all over Indonesia attended a virtual limited meeting chaired by President Jokowi.
Rifai explained that after the limited meeting with President Jokowi, Governor Lukas immediately gathered a number of Papuan Provincial Government officials with the agenda of handling the COVID-19 pandemic in Papua Province.
“Papua Governor Lukas Enembe will conduct periodic evaluations regarding the implementation of Micro-Scale Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in Papua Province in accordance with the Papua Governor’s Circular Letter Number: 440/7736/SET,” he said.
Rifai explained that the circular was still valid until July 25, 2021. For this reason, Lukas Enembe asked all relevant stakeholders to work together and move more quickly and precisely to ensure that the COVID-19 pandemic situation in Papua did not get worse.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, a meeting is planned by the Papua Province COVID-19 Task Force Team on the instructions of the governor to discuss the ongoing micro PPKM evaluation and will end on July 25, 2021.***
