The local government (Pemda) of Papua has promised to bear the tax cuts for PON athletes’ bonuses. According to the local government, the amount of taxes borne is almost Rp. 100 billion.
The General Secretary of KONI Papua, Kenius Kogoya, explained that the government will hand over the athlete bonuses on Saturday (20/11) at Istora Papua Bangkit in the Lukas Enembe Stadium complex, Jayapura Regency.
“The total bonus awarded reached Rp 457.624 billion, greater than the bonus given by the central government to athletes who excel for Indonesia,” said Kenius, Friday (11/19).
Kenius thanked all those who worked hard for the implementation of PON and also the athletes who made Papua proud. Moreover, the achievements given in the PON exceed the target of the Governor of Papua.
“The governor hopes that Papua will be in the top 5 for PON medals. In fact, this expectation has exceeded the target and is in the top 4,” he explained.
Kenius said, the Governor of Papua really hopes that the bonuses given can be useful for improving the welfare of athletes and their families.
at the XX PON event, Papua won 93 gold medals, 66 silver medals and 102 bronze medals.
The bonuses that athletes will receive vary. Individual gold medalists will pocket IDR 1 billion, while team gold medalists will receive IDR 650 million per athlete
Then the individual silver medalists are IDR 500 million and the team silver medalists are IDR 325 million per athlete.
While for individual bronze medalists, the promised bonus is IDR 250 million, while for the team the value is IDR 162.5 million per athlete.
Athletes who do not win medals will be given a bonus of Rp. 10 million per person.
