PAPUADAILY –The enthusiasm of the audience who attended the Papua PON final football match made the security forces, led directly by the Papuan Police Chief Inspector General Pol Mathius D Fakhir, be responsive. He gave permission to enter those already in the stadium area. This extraordinary support led Papua to win the gold medal.

The enthusiasm of football lovers in Jayapura is predicted to explode because the Papua PON team will appear in the final match to face the Aceh team on Thursday (14/10/2021).

Before the match day, the General Chair of the Central KONI Marciano Norman said on the PON Papua official website that the committee would only open a maximum of 50 percent of the stadium’s capacity for spectators.

However, he also said that the situation would be fluid depending on conditions and situations on the ground considering the high interest of the Papuan people.

Sure enough, eye-to-eye reports from the scene showed that onlookers were still forcing their way through the gates just before kickoff.

In the midst of the heat of Jayapura City, the match venue at the Mandala Stadium in Jayapura City was observed to be crowded with a wave of supporters since 12.00 WIT.

In fact, the kickoff final only started at 16.30 WIT.

The spectators who had not been able to enter until before kickoff continued to force the committee and security to open the door.

Finally, the security forces based on the instructions of the Regional Police Chief Inspector General Mathius D Fakhir directly at the location allowed the spectators to enter with the security forces and the committee arranged the seats.

They themselves do not spend money to watch this match as long as they can provide evidence that they have been vaccinated.

The PON committee also provides vaccine doses at every venue for any sport.

“The security forces were quick to respond to the crowd at the gate,” said Jerry Arvino, Match Commentator for PON XX Papua 2021, who was present at the match to Kompas.com.

“They are responsive in breaking up the atmosphere. Even though there are many people in the stadium, protocol is maintained and there are always empty seats in the audience,” he added.

Win 2-0

This extraordinary support made the Papuan team win the PON gold medal as well as complementing the success of Papua as the host.

In the final, the Papuan PON team managed to beat the Aceh PON team with a score of 2-0.

Two goals from the Papua PON team were bought by Ricky Ricardo in the fifth minute through the penalty spot and in the 22nd minute.
