Menpora: Success of PON XX Papua is Success for All Indonesian Nation

PAPUADAILY –PON XX Papua is ready to be held, some even have a test event. As the tagline “Torang Bisa”, Papua can organize large national-scale events. The success of PON Papua is the success of Indonesia. This was stated by Menpora (Minister of Youth and Sports) Zainudin Amali, when he was a resource person on Police TV, online from the Tele Conference Room on the 10th Floor of Graha Pemuda Senayan, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (14/9/2021) afternoon.

Two weeks ago the Minister of Youth and Sports together with the National Police Chief and the TNI Commander visited 4 PON cluster areas, both in Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Mimika, and Merauke.

In terms of infrastructure, there are only a few things that need improvement and are not a disturbing thing in terms of competition. Likewise, the supporting human resources are all ready to serve the contingents from 33 provinces as well as the host contingent itself.

“Physics are only a few, such as lighting for example, and even then there is an option to compete in the morning to evening,” Amali said as quoted from

“For supporting HRD, volunteers are ready who can really be good servants, become liaisons so that the contingent will feel comfortable,” he added.

He also hopes that the matches in PON can be witnessed by the audience directly.
However, it is limited and remains with a strict process discipline.

“The number of spectators has not yet been decided, what is clear is that they must have been vaccinated, so they are being chased for at least 70 percent of the surrounding community to have been vaccinated,” he said again.

“A bubble to bubble system will also be implemented, meaning that all contingents who play in one cluster, come and go from that cluster as well, to suppress movement so it doesn’t spread everywhere,” he continued.

Finally, he said that when it was discovered that Papua had won the bidding, the government was very welcoming. That means there is equality and equality with other provinces.

“When Papua wins the bidding, of course there will be cost consequences. However, it is necessary to know as in the DBON whose Presidential Regulation was signed by the President during the 38th Haornas (9/9/2021).

The cost to support sports is no longer a cost but an investment in building human resources, of course it is priceless. Infrastructure will also be used, moreover Papua will become one of the Sports Development Centers,” he concluded ***
