Ma’ruf Amin Encourages Papuan Muslim-Friendly Tourism


PAPUADAILY –Vice President Ma’ruf Amin encourages Muslim-friendly tourism in Papua.  He suggested that Muslim facilities should be provided such as halal restaurants and prayer rooms.

With the existence of Muslim-friendly tourist facilities and services, the number of tourists is expected to increase both from domestic and foreign tourists.

“I want to encourage tourist destinations to provide facilities for Muslim travelers to feel comfortable and at home, such as places for prayer and halal food or restaurants,” said Ma’ruf Aminn at the Raja Ampat E-Festival 2021 “Voyage to Digital Community” online event  as quoted by Antara.

In addition, the Vice President also reminded that tourism business actors in Papua can develop tourism and culinary centers that prioritize the advantages and characteristics of Papua and West Papua.

“Also prepare culinary centers with contemporary design concepts, but still show the characteristics of Papuan culture, and meet health protocol standards,” he said.

The Vice President also hopes that the Government’s program to encourage domestic holidays can accelerate the recovery of the tourism and economic sectors by involving local micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM).

According to him, business actors can prepareUMKM products, such as Papuan souvenirs that are of high quality and in accordance with market interests.

“I invite all of us to travel to Raja Ampat which is famous for its natural and cultural beauty. Travel while still following health protocols,” added Ma’ruf.
