PAPUADAILY –Pangdam XVIII / Cassowary Major General TNI I Nyoman Cantiasa stated that Papua remains within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). He said that the state was present and felt by the people of Papua and West Papua.
“The TNI and Polri are already present in Papua,” said Major General TNI I Nyoman Cantiasa in a long-term study FGD on finding a comprehensive solution for resolving the Papua problem which was held virtually, some time ago.
I Nyoman emphasized that the resolution of the Papua problem is not enough just to dialogue or communicate. “We must synergize and collaborate with all components of the nation, ministries and institutions according to their respective fields,” he said.
The military commander said that Papua was the legacy of the nation’s founders and fighters. He also invited to save and protect Papua.
The presence and attention of the state in Papua with the issuance of Presidential Instruction No. 9 of 2020 concerning the acceleration of welfare development in Papua and West Papua, as an integrated breakthrough, focusing on synergy between Ministries/Agencies and Regional Governments to make Papua and West Papua advanced, peaceful, prosperous and dignified.
“The TNI’s special rules contained in Article 33 paragraphs a and b read to provide security support in accelerating development and also support to the local government in the readiness of education, health in remote areas, inland and border areas,” he said.
In addition, the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 34 of 2004 concerning the main task of the TNI is to assist local governments, especially in relation to the division of districts/districts/districts. In this case, Kodam XVIII/Kasuari immediately built the Kodim and Koramil in preparation to assist the local government. Then the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 21 of 2001 concerning the Special Autonomy of the State for a period of 20 years. Otsus runs from 2002 to 2021, the State has disbursed nearly 94.4 trillion funds for the Special Autonomy program so that the acceleration of development is immediately achieved, both in human resource and infrastructure development.
The Military Commander also explained the Government’s efforts to defend West Papua as part of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia. “The Papuan conflict can be overcome, the most important thing is that the community has the resilience not to be provoked by propaganda,” said the Pangdam.
