Haris Azhar Examined About Allegations of Mining Business in Papua

Haris Azhar Diperiksa Soal Tuduhan Bisnis Tambang di Papua

Director of Lokataru Haris Azhar underwent an initial examination as a suspect in the alleged defamation case reported by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan (LBP), Monday (22/11). Haris Azhar, accompanied by his lawyer, arrived at Polda Metro Jaya at around 10.25 WIB.

However, Haris Azhar did not say much when the media crew asked questions. When asked about KontraS Coordinator Fatia Maulida, he said that Fatia would only be summoned on Tuesday (23/11) tomorrow.

“Fatia will be investigated tomorrow,” said Haris at the Metro Jaya Police, Jakarta, Monday (22/11).

Previously, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan accepted the invitation to mediate with the Executive Director of Lokataru, Haris Azhar, and the Coordinator of Kontras, Fatia Maulidiyanti, at Polda Metro Jaya, Monday (15/11). However, the mediation process between the two parties again failed to take place.

“Actually, if I’m not mistaken, it was last Sunday, but I went out (of the country), promised on Friday that I also happened to be abroad. Then Haris took care of it today. Yes, I came today, but Haris couldn’t come,” said Luhut.

Luhut, who came accompanied by his legal representative, seemed disappointed with the absence of Haris Azhar and Fatia in the mediation invitation. In fact, those who asked for the mediation process to be carried out were the reported parties, namely Haris Azhar and Fatia. Mediation has also failed twice. So it has the potential to continue to the court.

“Yeah, the other one didn’t come either. When the process is finished. I think it’s better to meet in court, I’ll say,” said Luhut.

Luhut reported Haris Azhar and Fatia to the Polda Metro Jaya because he felt they had been slandered and defamed. He reported both of them under Article 27 Paragraph 3 in conjunction with Article 45 Paragraph 3 of the Indonesian Law on Information and Electronic Transactions and Article 14 or Article 15 of Law Number 1 Year 1986 concerning Criminal Law Regulations Article 310 of the Criminal Code or Article 311 of the Criminal Code.

The accusation is in a video uploaded by Haris Azhar to Youtube with the title “There is a Lord Luhut Behind Intan Jaya’s Economic Relations-Military Post.” PT Tobacom Del Mandiri, a subsidiary of the Toba Sejahtera Group, is said to be involved in the mining business in Intan Jaya, Papua. Luhut is said to be a shareholder in the Toba Sejahtera Group.

“I reported my defamation to the police. So Haris Azhar and Fatia,” said Luhut at the Polda Metro Jaya, South Jakarta, Wednesday (22/9).
