Build Electricity Infrastructure to Support PON, PLN Disburses IDR 313 Billion


PAPUADAILY –Supporting and make the XX National Sports Week (PON) a success, PT PLN (Persero) has disbursed Rp313 billion for the construction of electricity infrastructure in a number of areas in Papua.

Director of Human Resources Management Syofvi Roekman said that most of the funds were allocated to build electricity infrastructure in Jayapura Regency, Jayapura City, Merauke Regency and Mimika Regency, which were the locations for the PON.

“PLN is committed to supporting the implementation of PON in Papua. This is a national event, because the success of organizing PON is the success of the nation,” he said in a statement quoted by ANTARA in Jakarta, Tuesday (14/9/2021).

PLN guarantees the reliability of electricity supply in all venues and supporting facilities for the sporting event which is held every four years.

Of the total power capable of electricity reaching 228.2 megawatts (MW), it is projected that the peak load during the Papau PON will reach 153.5 MW, so that there is a power reserve of around 74.7 MW.

In addition to power supply, continued Syofvi, PLN has carried out several developments and strengthening of electrical infrastructure, including the construction of medium-voltage overhead lines, medium-voltage cable lines, low-voltage networks, connecting substations, and distribution substations.

The company also prepared 129 units of mobile generators with capacities of 100 kW, 200 kW, 500 kW to 1,000 kW.

In addition, 55 units of mobile substations, 45 units of mobile uninterruptible power supply, seven units of mobile cables, and four units of cables up to mobile cubicles were also prepared.

On the other hand, during the standby period from September 18 to October 15, 2021, PLN will alert 1,574 personnel at 45 match locations and 230 other strategic locations, such as VIP offices, lodging and hospitals.

The Daily Chairperson of the XX PON Large Committee Yunus Wonda said that the role of PLN was very large in ensuring the supply and reliability of electricity for the implementation of PON.

“For a long time, PLN has always supported the implementation of PON in Papua, especially electricity needs in lodging and all places that support the implementation of PON,” said Yunus.***
