PAPUADAILY –A total of 69 suspected terrorists from the Vila Mutiara group who were arrested after a suicide bombing occurred in front of the Makassar Cathedral Church, South Sulawesi (South Sulawesi), were transferred to Jakarta yesterday. Police said 58 of them were arrested in South Sulawesi, while 11 others were arrested in Merauke, Papua.
“A total of 69 prisoners of terrorism crimes belonging to the Vila Mutiara group network who were arrested after the Makassar Cathedral bombing were transferred. From the South Sulawesi Police Rutan as many as 58 people and 11 terrorism prisoners from the Merauke Brimob Headquarters, the result of the development of the Vila Mutiara group who fled to Merauke,” he said. Ramadhan explained that the 69 terrorist suspects who are also members of the Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) network were transferred to the Police Headquarters Rutan, South Jakarta. The transfer of the terrorist suspects, he continued, was closely monitored by Densus 88 and carried out according to the SOP.
“The transfer of the terrorist network of the JAD group that supports ISIS is closely guarded by Densus 88. The transfer of prisoners for terrorism crimes to Jakarta is aimed at further legal proceedings. The transfer of 69 prisoners of terrorism cases is carried out according to the standard operating procedure (SOP) for escorting and securing terrorism prisoners,” continued Ramadhan. .
Furthermore, Ramadhan said that the transfer of 69 suspected terrorists from South Sulawesi and Merauke went smoothly. They were placed in a special detention center under close supervision by Densus.
“The implementation of the transfer of prisoners is carried out in a safe and controlled manner. All detainees are placed in special detention centers for criminal acts of terrorism under strict control from Densus 88 AT Polri,” he added.
As is known, Densus 88 previously arrested 58 suspected terrorists in South Sulawesi. The arrests were made after the suicide bombing incident in front of the Makassar Cathedral Church, South Sulawesi (South Sulawesi).
In addition, Densus 88 arrested 11 suspected terrorists in Merauke, Papua, at the end of May 2021. Karo Penmas of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono said they were linked to the Vila Mutiara study group in Makassar, South Sulawesi.
“Yes, once again there is contact between them. Because indeed the case in Merauke was the result of a development from Makassar. So Makassar, Balikpapan, and Merauke have mutual linkages between their groups (Vila Mutiara),” Rusdi told reporters at the National Police Headquarters on Monday ( 7/6/2021).
