PAPUADAILY –Eleven residents, including 3 children, were evacuated from Kiwirok District by airplane on Saturday (25/9/2021) morning at around 09.00 WIT and arrived in Oksibil District, Bintang Mountains Regency, Papua Province.
According to the Director of General Criminal Investigation at the Papuan Police, Kombes Pol. Faizal Rahmadani, in Jayapura, the police are currently still recording and checking the health of residents who were evacuated from Kiwirok, where the armed criminal group (KKB) carried out attacks, torture, burning public facilities, and other terror acts.
Faizal said that there might still be residents who would be evacuated from Kiwirok but he could not provide detailed information about it.
“I have returned to Jayapura and the evacuation process is controlled by the Bintang Mountains Police Chief,” he said.
The head of the Bintang Mountains Resort Police AKBP Cahyo Sukarnito when contacted from Jayapura said that there were still some residents who would be evacuated from Kiwirok.
“The first flight is prioritized for women and children, hopefully it will be safe,” he said.
The evacuation of civilians from Kiwirok was the aftermath of a terrorist act carried out by an armed criminal group led by Lamek Taplo since Monday (13/9/2021).
Members of the armed criminal group set fire to public facilities and assaulted and abused health workers in Kiwirok District.
A health worker, Sister Gabriel Melani in Kiwirok died after being abused by members of an armed criminal group.
Meanwhile, one health nurse, Gerald Sokoy, is reportedly still alive and is currently still at the KKB headquarters led by Lamek Taplo.***
