10 TNI Soldiers who Ambush KKB Papua Get Award, Proposed to be Promoted


PAPUADAILY –Pangdam XVII/Cenderawasih Major General TNI Ignatius Yogo gave an award to TNI soldiers who succeeded in ambushing members of the Papuan KKB led by Lamek Taplo. They are proposed to get an Extraordinary Promotion (KPLB) in accordance with the applicable mechanism.

Major General TNI Ignatius Yogo also expressed appreciation from the Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General Andika Perkasa to the soldiers.

The ten TNI soldiers who received awards and love rope were six Deninteldam XVII/Cenderawasih personnel who managed to get one firearm, and four Babinsa Koramil 1715-05/Batom Kodim 1715/Yahukimo for their achievements in capturing two members of the Papuan KKB along with five firearms.

Major General Ignatius Yogo Triyono said that the rules in the military are clear about rewards and punishments for soldiers who excel, and those who violate will be given sanctions.

“As a form of appreciation for the achievements that you have achieved, I as Pangdam XVII / Cenderawasih will give a certificate of appreciation and compassion,” said the Commander.

Pangdam XVII/Cenderawasih also said that the Army Chief of Staff agreed that soldiers with outstanding achievements would be proposed to get an Extraordinary Promotion (KPLB) in accordance with the applicable mechanism.

It is said, territorial development is a powerful weapon to win the hearts and trust of the public, so that people voluntarily report suspicious things to the TNI apparatus.

Pangdam XVII/Cenderawasih advised that the achievements that have been achieved can be an example for other soldiers in their duties.

2 Members of Papuan KKB ambushed by TNI

Previously, 2 members of the Papua New Guinean KKB led by Lamek Taplo had bad luck while crossing the river from Papua New Guinea (PNG) to Mongham.

Their boat was suddenly damaged so they were ambushed by the TNI with the help of local residents.

In addition to securing two members of the Papuan KKB, the TNI also confiscated five firearms of various types and other evidence.

Their arrest was made on Tuesday (7/9/2021) in Oksibil District.

The chronology began when residents reported a boat carrying two people from Papua New Guinea (PNG) to Mongham, which is the basis for Papuan KKB, said Danrem 172 PWY Brigadier General Izak Pangemanan in Jayapura, Wednesday.

He explained that initially there was information from people in the village of Abukerom who saw an unknown person (OTK) using a motorboat from PNG to Mongham.

However, the boat was damaged in Muara village.

Based on the report, members of Koramil 1715-05/Batom led by Sergeant Ari Netson Arabia along with residents and members of the Linmas went to Muara Village and conducted a siege in the middle of the Oksip–Mongham river.

“Both of them were successfully secured along with the contents of the boat carrying five firearms,” ​​said Danrem Brigadier General Izak.

Brigadier General Izak also expressed his appreciation for the success of his members and residents in capturing members of the Papuan KKB.

Two people who were detained, namely Yulian Uropmabin (36) and Kapol Uropmabin (42) and are currently still being held at the Batom Koramil.

Batom District, Bintang Mountains District, Papua, is one of the areas directly adjacent to PNG.

“It has been confirmed from the serial number of the firearms made in the United States, not those of the TNI-Polri, which were taken from Bougenville, Papua New Guinea (PNG). From the provisional confession of the two KSB members who were arrested, it was revealed that the guns came from Bougenville, PNG,” said Major General TNI. The disclosure of the case was due to reports from residents who were suspicious because they were suspected of heading to Mongham which is the headquarters of the Papuan KKB.
